A business leader

Last evening, I bumped into an old friend of mine. This friend of mine is considered a budding business leader—I mean, at least, within the smaller circle of farm business, if not by the whole society.

He talked about his newest investment plan. His plan consists of investing nearly half a crore of Rupees in his farms.

It was really disappointing to hear him talking of his investment as if it was big news. It should be news here if his farm could absorb at least 50/60 crores of Rupees of investment. He should also visualize how some sectors of our economy could absorb several thousand crores of Rupees investments.

Why should he lack such visions?

Pardon my ignorance but isn't half a crore quite a sum esp. when you view the present scenario (business and otherwise) in Manipur? Of course, i don't know your friend but i don't think he lacks vision. i mean, look at it this way, he is probably doing the best he can in an environment not actually conducive to growth.

I agree: An average farm that can absorb a half crore investment is good enough when we take into account what Manipir is today.

But my friend is considered to be a promising business leader in the making.

I think 'what Manipur today is' needs to be morphed into 'an environment ACTUALLY conducive to growth'. That would need able business leaders. Those business leaders should have also have visions.
